Meaningful Use incentive payments top $12.3 billion
Meaningful Use incentive payments earned by providers now have hit $12.3 billion, the ONC's Health IT Policy Committee announced last week. Robert Anthony, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Office of eHealth Standards and Services, reported at the policy committee's meeting last Thursday that as of the end of February, CMS has paid 140,000 physicians participating in the Medicare incentive program and 75,5000 clinicians participating in the Medicaid incentive program.
Almost 85 percent (3,757) of eligible hospitals also have successfully attested to Meaningful Use. Some providers have now successfully attested and earned incentive money for meeting Meaningful Use in both 2011 and 2012. Figures
