SPOTLIGHT: Davies Public Health Awards
The Infectious Disease Bureau of the Boston Public Health Commission and the Denver Public Health Information Service have won 2009 Davies Public Health Awards of Excellence, HIMSS announced this week. The Boston agency won for its Boston Syndromic Surveillance System, which ties together emergency departments all over the metro area to track the spread of communicable diseases. Denver's public health department is being honored for its clinical information system that frees clinicians from the burden of paperwork, gives patients an online portal to check test results and streamlines reporting of public health reporting to state authorities.
