SPOTLIGHT: Point-of-care diagnostics and EMRs

Point-of-care diagnostic tools are cash cows for so many hospitals and clinics, but unless they connect to and output data to EMRs, the devices won't do much in the way of improving patient care or reducing overall medical costs, says a new report from Kalorama Information. "Any manufacturers who want to make their POC products incredibly valuable should make sure they can link up with major EMR systems," says Shara Rosen, diagnostics analyst at the New York-based research firm.
