SPOTLIGHT: Should Microsoft acquire an established EHR vendor?

Despite its many overtures to the healthcare market, Microsoft still doesn't offer a full-fledged EHR. Data aggregator Amalga, acquired in 2006, comes closest, but it and the PHR platform HealthVault "are on the periphery of the market and do not really target the sweet spot: electronic health records for physician practices," the Software Advice blog opines. That could open up the possibility of the Redmond Empire acquiring one of the established EHR players. There's a lot of speculation here, but it makes for interesting discussion. Blog
